My name’s Juan Vila Rodriguez, I’m a Social Sciences with Data Science student in my final year at UCL.
Ever since I was born, I’ve been absolutely in love with football – probably not since I was born, it was probably a few years after that. For years, I’ve woken up and thought about football, brushed my teeth and thought about football, gone throughout my day and thought about football, and… well… you get the gist.
Over time, I’ve become increasingly interested in the ability to convey complex ideas and topics to a wider range of people through data and its various applications. This has also applied to the world of football, where I’ve followed various people, clubs, and other accounts which discuss and do various pieces of data analysis in football.
Therefore, as a football fan with such an affinity for stats, I thought – why not throw my hat into the ring? I’ve had various ideas over the years on various projects I could launch to show certain things in the world of football through stats, and what better to start than now!
And hence I created FC Juanalytics – an avenue for me to be able to bring to light certain footballing phenomenas which are of interest to me. Additionally, the fact I can gain some practice in collecting, interpreting, using, visualising (and so on) data within football was an attractive process.
And so here we are! Feel free to follow along the FC Juanalytics journey on my various social media channels to stay up to date – the handle is fcjuanalytics!
